Calibrated Seemoto ordered from your pharmacy or as an annual add-on service
How do I calibrate my Seemoto temperature sensor (thermometer)?
All Seemoto temperature sensors are calibrated before delivery to the customer. The options for calibration temperature are "freezer", "refrigerator" or "room temperature". On special request temperature sensor calibration can also be performed at other temperatures. Before sending the sensors, the location of the sensors is clarified with the customer and the calibration temperature of each sensor is chosen according to where it will be installed.
Seemoto are calibrated according to EN13486. The sensors themselves are not adjusted to display the correct value, but the value reported by the sensor and the correct temperature are indicated on the calibration certificate. Seemoto are very accurate, but if the calibration shows that the sensor temperature differs from the correct temperature by more than half a degree, it will not be delivered to the customer. The correct temperature at calibration is determined by a very accurate reference meter, for which a calibration certificate is also available.
New sensors are calibrated in at least one temperature point before being sent to the customer. Calibration is performed within ±5 degrees of the future operating temperature of the sensor. The calibration temperatures used in Seemoto are approx. -20 ⁰C for freezers, approx. +4 ⁰C for refrigerators and approx. +22 ⁰C for room temperature.
The price of the sensor always includes factory calibration at 1 - 3 temperature. The vast majority of sensors delivered before 2021 will have been calibrated at only one temperature, but new deliveries will normally include a 3-point calibration. A calibration certificate will always be supplied with the sensor to check the temperatures used for calibration. The calibration certificate is valid for two years. The certificates are stored in an electronic system and can be printed out if required. The correct calibration certificate can be found in the system using the unique MAC code of the sensor. The MAC code is printed on the type label on the back of the sensor. The electronic repository for calibration certificates can be found at: http://calibration.seemoto.com The site does not require a password and the certificate can be retrieved by simply entering the MAC code.
When and how to renew the calibration of the Seemoto temperature sensor (thermometer)?
Once the calibration certificate expires, Seemoto can be recalibrated. Seemoto offers calibration as an additional service for a fee. Calibration can be ordered either automatically every year or every two years, or on a quotation basis when the certificates expire. However, recalibration is not compulsory for pharmacies and the authorities do not require a valid calibration certificate for measuring instruments. Instead of calibration, the customer can carry out the so-called periodic verification himself, for more information on the periodic verification procedure. section on periodic verification.
However, recalibration as an additional service by Seemoto is the easiest and simplest option for the pharmacy. The majority of our customers order calibration as an optional additional service to be carried out on a regular basis. Without a contract for automatic calibration, Seemoto customer support will send a quote by email when the sensor certificates are about to expire.
Whether the calibration is done automatically or based on quotes, it is always done in the same way. Seemoto Customer Support sends replacement sensors to the customer, clearly marked with the name of the sensor that will replace the current sensor. All the service configuration work required for the sensor replacement is completed by our customer support team. When the new sensors arrive, the customer simply replaces the old sensors and returns the old sensors in the return envelope provided with the shipment. The postage is already paid. Everything works automatically and there are no interruptions to the measurements. The new sensors always come with new batteries, and the risk of running out of batteries unexpectedly is reduced to zero.
If you need to recalibrate your sensors and there is no automatic calibration contract, you should request a quote from Seemoto Customer Service by e-mail at support@seemoto.com. Although Seemoto Customer Support will monitor the validity of the certificates and send a quote by email when the calibration certificates for the sensors are about to expire.
